Soul Jubilee
May 10th - July 6th, 2024
Xpace Cultural Centre
Traversing through chaos in pursuit of a tempered joy, restful reprieve, and personal attunement, Soul Jubilee seeks to unravel the figurative quantity that constitutes “noise” in its various interpretations. The tension between commotion and silence uncovers how one might orient themselves amidst the mayhem: reckoning with the complex histories, dense systems and cultural paradigms that inform individual becoming, making sense of the literal sounds and sensations that present themselves around us, or intuitively searching for our own personal semblance of harmony, solace or resolve. Through the use of drawing, photography, and sculptural work riffing on structural materials like stone, hardwood, and aluminum, this exhibition underscores “noise” as a fixture inextricable from our introspection, pleasure, interconnection, and most aptly, jubilee.
As a first for the gallery, Soul Jubilee encompases all Xpace exhibition spaces and platforms!
